Today I’m sharing with you my secret to Extra Fudgy, Chewy Brownies. It’s probably not even a secret, but whenever I make brownies they seem to be a hit so I thought I would share how I make them anyway. There’s no magical ingredient, I don’t even make the brownies from scratch {aka they are from a box}!
All you need is two boxes of your favorite brownie mix. I prefer either Ghirardelli brand brownie mix, or if I am trying to be budget friendly I buy the Betty Crocker Fudge Brownie Mix. Honestly I end up buying the Betty Crocker one more often since it’s usually on sale. I think they both taste great.
In a large bowl you will need to combine two boxes of brownie mix with all the ingredients it calls for on the back of the box. If you notice sometimes on the back of the box it will say to add one less egg to the recipe if you want your brownies to be extra fudgy. I’m not sure if all recipes say that, but I noticed it on the Betty Crocker boxes. So I usually add one less egg to each box recipe. After you mix all your ingredients together well. Pre-heat your oven according to your brownie box mix, it’s usually 350 degree. Spray non-stick spray in a 9 x 13″ metal baking tray or glass dish. Pour your brownie batter in to the baking dish {all of it}. The trick is to bake it for 35 – 40 minutes, test it with a toothpick to see if the toothpick comes out mostly clean. If it doesn’t come out clean, bake it a few minutes longer until it does come out pretty much clean. Remove from the oven, and let cool.
Now are you ready for this!?! I’m going to tell you a trick to cutting brownies perfectly without them getting torn apart by the knife! Ready? Use a plastic disposable knife! Boom! I just blew your mind right?! This is the best way to cut brownies! You will get clean cuts without all the brownie sticking to the knife. Now it’s time for you to chow down and enjoy those brownies.

I love brownies…and they must be fudgy! Thank you for sharing this – I like the Ghiradelli brand too. I’ll try Betty Crocker next time. Thank you for the tips!

So this may sound dumb, but do you let them cool down all the way before cutting or do you cut them while they’re hot? I seem to have the tearing problem either way, BUT I’ve never tried a plastic knife before, so I’ll test that out too! Thanks for the tips!
