DIY Back to School Teacher Gift

I’m always looking for fun and new ways to create gifts for the start of each school year for teachers. Something that will make their first day back to school a little extra special. This DIY Back to School Teacher Gift is the perfect way to start the new school year.

Yoplait is one of my favorite afternoon snacks or quick breakfasts – they are easy to grab and so delicious. They also come in more than 100 different flavors and have no aspartame or high fructose corn syrup so I feel great when I eat it. My current favorite flavor is the Yoplait Greek 100 Strawberry Cheesecake, it’s so good. Lately, I’ve been eating this almost every day, which means I’ve had a lot of empty containers. I love a good upcycle project and it made perfect sense to make something fabulous out of them.

Supplies:
Empty Yoplait Containers, washed and clean
Gold Spray Paint
Washi Tape
Free Printable Gift Tags found HERE
Succulents and Soil
Bamboo Skewers
Scissors

Once you’ve washed and dried all your Yoplait containers, simply give each container a few coats of gold spray paint and let them dry.

To add some contrast I applied some washi tape to the painted containers. I kept them simple with black and white washi tape patterns.

Once you’ve downloaded the free printable tags HERE or by clicking the link below you can open it in a program like Word, Publisher, or Photoshop. Resize the tag to your liking. Print on matte photo paper or white cardstock for best quality. Using scissors cut the tags along the gray cut line.

Cut your bamboo skewers to fit the Yoplait containers, you can either leave them natural or you can give them a quick coat of gold spray paint to match. Then either adhere your gift tags with hot glue or tape.

Fill your painted containers with soil and succulents then add the sweet little gift tag to finish the gift.
