Our oldest son Corbyn inherited my first Christmas tree a few years back. I am pretty sure that tree is almost as old as I am and in amazing shape! It’s about 3ft. tall and just perfect for his room. And seeing as how our youngest Kaison is 3 now and would be completely left out if he didn’t have his own tree, I searched for one (cheap) and lucked out at a garage sale. So these two trees were set up in their rooms waiting to be decorated. The problem…well not really problem so much, more like decision was how to decorate them. Sure, I could totally go buy all those generic little mini ornaments and load up the trees. But honestly come on…I could make them is what I thought. So I did. I used some mini-ball ornaments we had already, and stars, the rest I made from felt. Corbyn’s room is mid-remodel and will have a rock n’ roll / skateboard theme, so I made felt acoustic and electric guitars. I also made a couple skulls. Kaison’s room is sort of a retro mod theme, lot’s of tan – orange – turquoise, and I am into owls right now and decided to do an owl tree for him. I made little felt owls, mushrooms, and acorns. The ornaments all turned out so cute, I love them. And hopefully these ornaments will be pulled out every year (until I decide to make more) and be cherished by the boys.
For the felt owl ornaments I used this pattern found HERE.
This is a picture of the original ones that inspired me to make them.
I love her color choices. I made mine to match Kaison’s room.
For the mushrooms I just made my own pattern on a piece of cardstock, same with the acorns. I just cut everything out, glue pieces on with the glue gun, added some decorative stitching with embroidery floss, and then glued them together leaving enough room to stuff with polyfill, then glued shut the rest of the way.
For the guitars I used these two patterns to cut out pieces. Acoustic Guitar & Electric Guitar. I just enlarged them to the size I needed and printed the templates out. I added seed beads for decoration to imitate the tuners (?) I honestly have no idea what they are called.
I free handed the skulls, adding buttons for the eyes.
I LOVE the way these all turned out, and I LOVE that the boys were excited to have their own trees. The trees are simple, not as fancy as Momma’s tree…but none the less still fantastic!

Amanda, I don’t sell them. I just made them for my son this year for his personal tree. There are directions listed in the tutorial along with the template I used. Not super hard, just need a quiet evening to do it.
