The other day my friend Rebecca taught myself and our other friend Michelle how to make Strawberry Freezer Jam. It was the first time I’d ever made any type of Jam or Jelly product. I was surprised at how simple and easy it was. Not to mention tasty! I thought I would share the recipe with you all today. Granted this recipe is probably pretty standard when it comes to making Jam or Jelly, but there may be some of you that probably would never attempt this because you thought it was too much work. So let’s get started.
Note: We made two different batches the other day, I had purchased “Ball” brand pectin for my batch which used a different amount of sugar than the other brand I will show in my pictures. The “Ball” brand called for 1 1/2 cups of sugar compared to the other brand that I will show you that uses 3 to 4 cups of sugar. I thought my batch turned out pretty sweet as it is, so the other brand will be super sweet if you like that. The reason the other brand was preferred by my friend was because it tends to thicken better. My “Ball” brand turned out pretty good too. So choose which brand you prefer or maybe by the sugar content. The recipe I am sharing is for the higher amount of sugar though. The other difference is the pectin in this recipe needs to be boiled with the sugar, the “Ball” recipe does not. Just be sure to read the directions on the back of the box of whichever brand of pectin you end up purchasing.
Grocery List:
– 2 Cups crushed fresh strawberries
{using your food processor, blender, or food chopper is best}
– 4 Cups of sugar
– 1 {1.75oz} Package dry pectin
– 3/4 Cup water
First step is to get your 2 cups of crushed fresh strawberries. We used a Ninja Chopper.
Next add your 4 cups of sugar to the crushed strawberries, we used about 3 1/2 in this batch. Now let it stand for 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, stir the Pectin in to the 3/4 cups of water in a small saucepan. Bring it to a boil over a medium-high heat, and boil for 1 minute.
Stir the boiling water and pectin mixture in to the crushed strawberry & sugar mixture.
{never mind the bag of chips there to the left, the kids were snacking!}
After pouring the water / pectin mixture in to the strawberries and sugar stir the mixture well. Let it stand for 3 minutes before pouring in to the jars or other storage containers. Place your lids on your storage containers or jars, and leave out on the counter for 24 hours. After 24 hours you can place your extra Jam in to the freezer, it can be stored frozen until ready to use.
It was so good.
This Jam is different than what we normally eat in this house, usually it’s jelly. This was a great treat though and a nice change. It was especially tasty on bagel thins. I also used it with some 7-up as a treat for the kids, I’m also thinking on top of some vanilla ice cream that this would be amazing. I hope you give it a try and enjoy it.

Glad you came over and did it! It’s always great to use in season fruits and veggies because it’s cheaper and earth friendly plus canning and preserving helps you to enjoy them longer in the year!
