I’m not typically the Mom that keeps track of my children’s height in a record book, or snaps a ton of pictures of them, or even fills out the majority of a baby book…but recently I’ve been trying hard to save things that really matter to me. Things that I can one day hold and remember how little and innocent my boys were. So when Child to Cherish asked me to try their Holiday Handprint Ornament kit I loved the idea.
So I quickly ordered two kits from Amazon which showed up the next day (love PRIME). We got right to work. The kit is so easy to use and comes with all the supplies you need. It has this amazing marshmallow clay, a rolling pin, 2 different size round cookie cutters, ribbon, and a small item to create the hole for the ribbon.
This was seriously super easy. You open the clay pouch and then knead your clay for a minute or two to get any air bubbles out. Then on a piece of wax paper just roll it out. I ended up rolling mine in to a sort of oval shape instead of trying for the round cookie cutter look. The only reason I did this is because Corbyn’s hand print was too large for the sizes of cookie cutters provided. I created a hole using the tool provided for the ribbon. I then just made the imprint of his hand and let it dry per the instructions. Once it was dry I added the ribbon.
I love that I have these little reminders of them as sweet, little, handsome boys. I know I’ll be the ridiculous Mom who someday pulls them out and places my hand on them and pretends to still be holding that 4 & 8 year olds hand and then I’ll cry, but that’s what these memories are for. They are to cherish and I will most definitely cherish these little hand prints!
Be sure to head over to Amazon if you want to order your own
