One of the things I love the most is to give gifts! I always have, even something small…I love to make and buy gifts for people that I know will either bring a smile to their face or help meet a need they have. This is something we try to teach our boys. We are so blessed and we want to teach them the spirit of giving and caring for others. So when Cost Plus World Market asked for me to create a gift to give someone I felt was deserving of some extra Joy this Holiday Season I jumped at the idea. Not only do I love giving to others, I love World Market…I have for so many years.
I knew right away who I would choose, our neighbor RJ and his lovely wife Sabrina. They were just recently married and are now expecting their first baby, so exciting! We’ve only met a couple of times, but I knew they were exactly who deserved this gift. RJ is a Youth Pastor at a sister church of our church. Every Sunday night he invites his youth group in to his house for a home group. As soon as he started having the kids over I immediately told my Mom how grateful I was to have someone ministering to the youth right across the street from me. My youth group was a huge part of my teenage years, I couldn’t have imagined being a teen without it and the relationships that came out of it. {P.S. This adorable couple was completely caught off guard so a huge thanks to them for letting me snap a quick pic of them for this post!}
I decided that I would make a huge gift basket full of fun goodies that either RJ & Sabrina could just use for themselves, or they could share it with the teens when they were over if they wanted. I purchased lot’s of treats to bake, utensils to help get the job done in these amazing mint & red colors {love the mint}, and a few little decor pieces to help bring joy to their home. I also grabbed a few things like ribbon, twine, and tissue to help pull the whole thing together.
I started with a large basket that I felt would compliment any interior, boy was it hard to choose since World Market has so many incredible baskets and options for creating a gift basket. Not to mention all the other incredible items in this store!
I began by filling the basket with lots of white tissue paper, this is a great base for creating height in your basket. I then started with my largest item first which happened to be the amazing mint & white striped mixing bowl. I placed it off center on it’s side.
I then added the next three big items which were two cookie mixes, and a bag of coffee. I placed them in the opposite corner of the mixing bowl and placed them on a diagonal. Keep in mind to alternate your colors if your sticking with a color theme for your gift basket.
I found this great jar and filled it with some of my favorite Christmas candies, Christmas Dots!
Then just fill in the rest of your goodies starting with the largest and ending with your smallest items.
Add tissue here and there if you need things to be taller in areas. Then finish by either placing your basket in a clear cellophane bag, but it’s not necessary especially if you have a larger basket like I did. I finished my basket my adding a cute little snowflake ornament I found at World Market to the front of the basket, and then added a little gift tag with some ribbon.
You will end up with a great looking gift basket like this one every time.
