I don’t know about you but I’m always on the lookout for easy and super cute gift ideas during the holidays for neighbors, teachers, and friends. This year I thought this Christmas Morning Pancakes in a Jar Gift Idea would be a fun time saver. Not only is it a cute gift, anything that helps make Christmas morning a little more relaxed is a win in my books.
I’ve collected BALL® Canning Jars for several years now, I’ve also made them a staple in gift giving as well. I use them every year to package up my Roasted Tomatillo & Avocado Salsa Verde for my family. So when the BALL® brand asked me to participate in their Secret Santa gift exchange I was thrilled. We were asked to create a DIY gift idea using our favorite BALL® Canning Jars and then mail it to our assigned Secret Santa partner. So fun!

First, you’ll need to mix up the fluffy pancake mix. These pancakes are going to be a hit on Christmas morning.
- 6 Cups All Purpose Flour
- 1/4 Cup Granulated Sugar
- 3 TB Baking Powder
- 2 Tsp Baking Soda
- 1 Tsp Salt
- Syrup, of your choice
- Put all ingredients into a mixing bowl and wisk together.
- Store mix in an airtight container.
- To make pancakes from mix add 1 cup mix + 1 cup milk + 1 beaten egg.
- Pour 1/4 cup batter on to greased non-stick skillet, when the top of the pancake is bubbly flip until both sides are golden brown.
- Add fruit, nuts, or chocolate chips to make your pancakes even better.
- Each cup of pancake mix will yield about 4-6 pancakes depending on size.
Lastly, fill your BALL® 4 oz. Regular Mouth Glass Mason Jars with your favorite syrup! These 4 oz jars are a perfect size, I included 2 jars of syrup with each jar of pancake mix. Tie some cute ribbon or twine and you’re done.
I love this cute idea. You could either include the wet ingredients with this gift idea, but I figure most families usually have the milk and eggs on hand.
Once I was done with my Secret Santa gift idea I secured it carefully with bubble wrap and wrapped it up in a box to send off to Katie from The Crafty Blog Stalker. Which is so fun because I’ve met Katie several times while attending several blogging events and she’s so sweet. I hope her family enjoys some fluffy pancakes on Christmas morning.
After I sent out my Secret Santa gift idea to Katie I received mine from my Secret Santa – Arlene from
Flour on my Face. How cute is this package!?!
This box was full of goodies for a Christmas family popcorn movie night. Such a great idea! I love how my Secret Santa packaged it, right down to the very cute mini BALL® jars filled with popcorn seasonings! How cute are they?! My boys might have gotten a little excited for this and we can’t wait for December 1st when we watch our favorite Christmas movie Elf.
I hope these ideas have inspired you to get creative with your favorite BALL® jars when it comes to holiday gift giving this year. There are so many ideas of DIY gifts that you could put in the jars.
